aglow.
enlightened.
feeling both grounded and spacious at the same time.
our loved ones see it in us as we deepen our practice.
it starts out lasting for 10 minutes after class, then we
start to remember it more and more of the time.
we are attracted to the brightness of others, so we go stand
near it.
we put on items, qualities, attitudes to reflect that light
back to these great beings.
every time we see it in each other as we pass in the hallway
after class,
we’re really just basking in moonlight as reflected
from the suns of our hearts.
we already have it. it doesn’t just belong to someone
else, long ago or far away.
this is a practice of remembering it, engaging it, sweetly
embracing it.
step into it. it is within your domain.

the
practice starts out with a big, unbounded YES
and simultaneously sets a foundation
we affirm our commitment to some certain time, place, stance.
these connections are not hindrances. they’re what make
our life ever more meaningful, ever more joyful.

grace’s
reflection is
gratitude.
when we see the grace that’s all around us,
and choose to align with it and the highest intentions of
our hearts,
we see the most wonderful qualities of ourselves
reflected back.
not just merely as one flat image in a mirror,
but in the gratitude of all the many diverse divine beings
that we have the honor to interact with every day.

‘as
I heard it’
storytelling in the Indian tradition often starts with this
line.
this puts the emphasis on the teller, making it not just someone
else’s story.
as you open yourself to hear the stories of others, and as
you tell the story of your own heart,
remember, realize, and recognize
that it’s not what’s given,
it’s what is taken that matters.
